1ª Trobada de Penyes a Austràlia

El pasado jueves 25 de agosto se dio lugar en Sídney una quedada perica de carácter muy internacional en la que se juntaron oficialmente, y por primera vez fuera del territorio nacional, penyas de 3 países diferentes.

La idea de organizar este evento se le ocurrió a Nick Puñal, el presidente de la Penya Espanyolista de Australia unos 10 días antes, cuando preguntó a la familia perica que estaba de viaje por tierras oceánicas a qué penya pertenecían.

Pero este no ha sido el único evento internacional que se ha celebrado del RCD Espanyol en Australia porque en marzo – también de este año -la Penya australiana había celebrado un acto oficial con la FCPE, “fue una noche increíble y los que estuvimos presentes teníamos ganas de repetir algo semejante”. Al conocer que los pericos viajeros eran socios de la Penya Blanc-i-Blava de Andorra y de la Central se nos presentó otra oportunidad de promocionar el RCD Espanyol por estas tierras!

Además, en junio los miembros de la Penya Espanyolista de Australia no pudieron coincidir para celebrar el 9 (noveno) aniversario, así que este evento era de celebración doble!!

Una vez que el evento tuvo el visto bueno de los Presidentes de Andorra y de la Central y tras coordinarlo todo con la FCPE, diseñé el póster y lo anuncié por las redes sociales… a falta de menos de una semana!”

Y así, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos ya estaban planeando dónde quedar ese día para hacer el camino juntos a “Prima Cucina”, el nuevo restaurante italiano de Kilian Diaz, Chef y perico de toda la vida.

Se juntaron casi una docena de pericos, incluyendo a Enric (padre), Enric (hijo) y Sara que estaban de viaje. Durante las 4 horas que estuvieron juntos había un ambiente verdaderamente de familia, de gran cordialidad y de fiesta. Recordaron en detalle eventos históricos del club, en especial jugadores de los años 70, las primeras experiencias que tuvieron de
Sarria, la campaña UEFA del ’88 y la gloria y tragedia de Leverkusen, los 2 últimos descensos, el Tamudazo y De la Peñazo, hasta el 6-4 de Sevilla!

Como el restaurante todavia estaba de obras se organizaron varias pizza y Kilian ya tenía enfriadas por lo menos una caja entera de cervecitas Estrella Damm.

El tiempo pasó volando pero las memorias se quedaran grabadas para siempre!

Last Thursday 25th August an official and very international “perico” event took place whereby for the first time outside national boundaries, RCD Espanyol Supporters clubs from three different countries gathered in Sydney, Australia.

The idea occurred to Nick Puñal, the President of the Australian Supporters Club when he asked a family of Espanyol supporters travelling Australia to which Supporters Club they belonged to and it took off from there.

The whole event was arranged in less than 10 days and once the official go-ahead was given by both Presidents of the Andorra and Central (Barcelona) Supporters Club, plus the Federation of Espanyol Supporters Clubs (FCPE), Nick Puñal designed the event poster and got the Social Media campaign underway, …with 6-7 days to spare!

Before you knew it we were organising a meeting point in the City so that all of us could make out way together to “Prima Cucina”, the new Italian restaurant of lifelong Espanyol supporter Kilian Diaz, who lives in Sydney!

Almost a dozen Pericos got together, including Enric (father), Enric (son) and Sara who were travelling. During the 4 hours a festive atmosphere prevailed, “it was like we were celebrating a family reunion” Daniel Blesa, one of the Sydney members said.

A lot of reminiscing and great perico conversations took place that night but topics of special mention were those members old enough to remember the Espanyol players of the 1970’s, their first experiences of the old Sarria stadium, the historic 1987/88 UEFA Cup campaign and the joys and sorrows of the final in Barcelona and Leverkusen. The painful 2 relegations, the Tamudazo and De la Peñazo and even the 6-4 loss to Sevilla were all part of the discussion!

As “Prima Cucina” was still being renovated, Nick and a few others arranged Pizza delivery whilst Kilian provided the “coldies”, none other than a box of Estrella Damm beers!

The 4 hours flew by but the memories will last a lifetime.
